February 20, 2026 - We hope you and your loved ones are safe. Our thoughts are with everyone in our community impacted by last night’s severe storms. 💛

A tornado caused damage across Bloomington’s west side including the Fieldstone, Stonechase, and Highland Village neighborhoods, the West Third Street corridor, Monroe County Humane Association (thankfully, all animals are safe), and areas near Monroe County Airport.

While Monroe County damage is most visible right now, this same storm system prompted warnings in Greene County and Owen County, and early reports suggest multiple counties may have been impacted.

If you experienced damage, you’re encouraged to report it by calling 211 or complete this online damage report.

As assessment teams continue surveying our region, we expect additional needs to emerge.

At United Way of South Central Indiana, we are activating our role as a community convener—bringing partners together, coordinating resources, and helping ensure our region is prepared to respond as needs become clearer.

Moments like this remind us how important it is to have strong systems in place before disaster strikes. Because of you, that work is already underway—strengthening local partnerships, building readiness, and ensuring we can mobilize quickly when our neighbors need us most.
